Carolyn Pettey

Age 78, of Flint, died November 10, 2024, at her home with her family by her side. A Funeral Service will take place 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris; with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Carolyn’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Thursday morning from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Carolyn was born in Flint, Michigan, she is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jesse James and Jeannette (Jamieson) Overman. Educated locally, Carolyn attended Kearsley High School, graduating with the class of 1974. She married the love of her life, Phillip Pettey on March 25, 1963, in Flint. Their union would be blessed with two wonderful children. An education was very important to Carolyn; after earning her diploma, she would volunteer her day at her children’s school in numerous capacities throughout their school years. Carolyn was a second mother and provided advice to many students. Later in life after her children left home, Carolyn found herself working in the retail industry to occupy her time. In her free time, Carolyn loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She loved shopping, knitting and quilting as well as sewing.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Phillip; son, Phillip, Jr. and wife, Tina Lynn Pettey; daughter, Paula and husband, Mike Gerow; two grandsons: Krystopher and Joshua Pettey; eight great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brother, Carl and wife, Sandy Overman; family pets; and many other family members and friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Chuck Overman.
