Carl was born on June 16, 1928, in Hamtramck, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Tilda (Arseneault) Holevar. Carl graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan with the Class of 1946. Carl heeded the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army on June 23, 1948, where he proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the 425th Infantry Division as a Motor Sergeant until his honorable discharge on May 11, 1954. Upon his return to the States, Sergeant Holevar continued his education to obtain his associate degree and started his own construction company, Holevar Construction. Carl met and married the love of his life, Louella Popovits, and the two were united in marriage on December 28, 1968. Sadly, she preceded him in death in 2001. Carl then married a longtime friend, Dolores Britt, and sadly she preceded him in death in 2016. Carl enjoyed spending his time outdoors hunting deer and rabbits and fishing in Canada, as well as camping with his family and friends. Carl remembers many hunting trips to the Upper Pennisula, where he had to take the Ferry across the Great Lakes as the Mackinaw Bridge was not yet built. When he wasn’t outdoors, Carl enjoyed watching NFL football, namely the Detroit Lions.
Left to cherish Carl’s memory are his sister, Joann Losey; stepson, Daniel Popovits; several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Louella Popovits; second wife, Dolores Britt; and several siblings.
