Brian was born in Flint, on December 11, 1972, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome and Eugenia (Kozuch) Wazny, Sr. Educated locally, Brian graduated from Lakeville Memorial High School with the Class of 1991. Brian went on to study at Mott Community College where he obtained an associate degree in Criminal Justice Applied Science. Pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer, Brian attended the Michigan State Police Academy, and began his career with them on September 24, 2006, as a Motor Carrier Officer. Brian had a passion to encourage and coach children to be better than the day they first met him. “Coach Waz” was a devoted JV softball coach for the Clio Schools. He could bring the greatness out of any child and make them want to be better just by the way he cared, mentored, coached, and supported all children. He was a positive role model in their lives and was truly one of a kind. Brian was also an MHSAA football and basketball referee, devoting his life to children. Brian loved riding his motorcycle and would take week and weekend trips through Petoskey during the fall months so he could enjoy the fall colors. He was a proud, loyal University of Michigan sports fan. Brian also enjoyed golfing and attended many charitable golfing events. In the winter months, he spent time at Boyne Mountain skiing. His infectious smile and laugh will remain with all who knew him and he will be greatly missed. Left to cherish Brian’s memory are his parents: Jerome and Eugenia Wazny, Sr.; brothers: Steven Wazny, Wayne Wazny, Jerome and wife, Lisa Wazny, Jr., Matthew Wazny, Pete Wazny; sisters: Paulette Wazny, Jeniffer Wazny and wife, Corey Trickey, Amy and husband, Darryll Grabill; godchildren: Emma and Jordan; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; special uncle to many of his friends’ children.
