Robert James Hill

Age 74, of Saginaw, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, at Covenant Harrison with his family by his side. A funeral service will take place at 11:00am, Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Major Mike and Major Shirley Myers to officiate, with burial to follow at West Vienna Township Cemetery. Robert’s family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, and again on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be considered to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Robert “Bob” was born in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, on September 15, 1949, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James and Lela (Bawks) Hill. Educated locally, Bob graduated from Flint Northern High School with the Class of 1967. On December 30, 2006, Bob married the love of his life, Dianna Brown. Lance Corp. Robert Hill proudly served his country during Vietnam in the United States Marine Corps from July 30, 1969, until his honorable discharge on July 29, 1971. Upon his return to the States, Bob would start his career at General Motors as an electrician until his retirement in 2000. Golfing was Bob’s passion in life. He could often be found on any course he passed whether in Michigan or Florida, it didn’t much matter to him as long as he was able to play. Bob loved to tinker and could fix just about anything he needed to. Camping was another of Bob’s hobbies. He spent many summers at Outdoor Adventures camping with his family. Spending time with his family was his favorite pastime. Bob enjoyed wintering in Florida and playing the card game Pegs and Jokers with his Florida friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish Bob's memory are his beloved wife, Dianna Straka-Hill; son, Steven and wife, Tandi Hill; step-children: Stephen Straka, Scott and wife, Susan Straka, Todd and wife, Julissa Straka and Jaime and husband, Daniel Edwards; grandchildren: Brooklyn, Charlie, Taz, Spencer, Paige, Madison, Elin, Jace; great-grandson, Connor; siblings: Shirley and husband, Mike Myers, Sandy Hill, Sharlene Hill, Jimmy Hill, Kim and wife, Sherri Hill; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Springer.
