Billie Bowser, age 76, of Mount Morris passed away at home after a short battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 surrounded by his family. In accordance with Billie’s wishes, cremation has taken place; there are no further services scheduled at this time. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Heartland Hospice 1321 Linden Rd. Flint, Michigan 48532. Billie was born October 18, 1939, in Florence, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Floyd and Anabelle (Plumley) Bowser. He proudly served in the United States Navy, touring on the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea until receiving his honorable discharge. After returning home from the Navy, Billie’s love for baseball and athleticism lead him to the Tryout Camps for the Detroit Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Philadelphia Phillies as a pitcher. He married Norma Rowland on February 19, 1966, at Flint, Michigan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, scratch off lottery tickets, listening to 50’s and 60’s music, swimming at U of M-Flint, traveling and watching Westerns, the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Red Wings. Billie worked for General Motors Buick Plant #36 in Flint, for 41 years until retiring in 2006; and was a member of UAW Local #599. Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Norma Bowser; five daughters: Michelle Buford, Dawn (Adam) Lamb, Rhonda (Antoine Yarbrough) Bowser, Kristle Hagadorn, Marc (Theresa) Bowser and Marsha Bowser; special granddaughter Shaquan Bowser; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers: Floyd Bowser, Russell Bowser and Kenneth Bowser; special friends: Gary, Fred and Don; and many other family members and friends. Billie was preceded in death by his parents, sister Billie Lee, three brothers: Arthur, Earl and Keith, and his sister-in-law Maxine Bowser. Billie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heartland Hospice, visiting nurse Edna, and to Pastor Jack Dowden for all their love and care.
