Betty Melton

June 6, 1933 — June 27, 2014

Age 81, of Mt. Morris, went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 27, 2014. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Home Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. Pastor Dan Gordan will officate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church. Envelopes will be available at the church. Betty was born June 6, 1933, in Etowah, Tennessee, the daughter of the late James and Louella Cronan. She graduated from Etowah High School in 1951. She and Billy Melton were united in marriage on March 24, 1951. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Michigan. Betty sold Avon for 25 years. She was a very loving, kind, caring, compassionate, loyal and trushworthy wife and mother. She loved to travel with her family and they visited Tenessee every year. She and her husband, Billy went to Hawaii twice and even toured the 13 original states. In her free time, Betty enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are children, Steven Melton and Krista McNeice; grandchildren, Charity and Heather; great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie “Thelma” Scott of Alabama and Kathryn Shelton of Tennessee; brother, Charles Cronan of Tennessee, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy and sister, Alma Pritchard. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff of Fostrian Manor and Heartland Hospice.
