Age 91, of Mt. Morris, died at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 24, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. Lee’s family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Tuesday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Wednesday, Lee will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to The Boy Scouts of America. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Lee was born July 23, 1928, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans and Mary (Fritsch) Sorensen. Educated locally, Lee graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the class of 1947. On July 17, 1948; Lee was united in marriage to the love of his life, Pat McClain at St. Mary Catholic Church. Lee worked for Buick for 34 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the UAW Local #599. Spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, combat and target shooting; square dancing, and lapidary are a few of the hobbies Lee enjoyed. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Lee also enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. He was a proud Boy Scout Leader of Troop #108 and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Lee leaves to cherish his memory, children; Rena and husband, Louis Urbanik, Rita Short, Ralph and wife, Ronda Sorensen, Lois and husband, Byron Taylor, Ronald and wife, Marie Sorensen and Russell and wife, Annette Sorensen, eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; with two more on the way; and many nieces; nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; three sisters; and five brothers.
