Alma Treva (Barr) Treat, age 88, of Mt. Morris, died Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Wellspring Lutheran Services of Frankenmuth. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 3:00 pm at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Jim Chinery will officiate with cremation to follow. Alma’s family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Alma was born on July 30, 1929, in Flint, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Alma (Smith) Barr. She and Benjamin Treat were united in marriage on January 21, 1949, in Mt. Morris. She was a member of the Mt. Morris First Baptist Church, as well as the Flint Poetry Forum and the Women of Hope group. In her free time, Alma enjoyed bowling, writing poetry, square dancing, cooking, baking, and sewing. She also has fond memories of traveling across the United States with her family. Left to cherish her memory are her two children: Daniel (Barbara) Treat and Christine (Ken) Crandall; six grandchildren: Jeremy Nichols, Amanda Treat, Melissa (Andrew) Wilson, Krystal (Tony) Tucker, Kim Crandall, and Ken Crandall; great-grandchildren: Tyler Nichols, Caleb Wilson, Aiden Wilson, Annabelle Wilson, Kelsey Diehl, Brandon Crandall, Vance Tucker, Alex Warczinsky, and Destiny Crandall; cousins: Avis Alcorn and Louine Patten; and lifelong friend Juanita Shaw. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Benjamin Treat; and her daughter Benadene Treat. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Wellspring Lutheran Services of Frankenmuth for their support.
