Obituary of Arthur Eugene Wellisley
Arthur “Sonny” Wellisley, age 75, of Millington, died Monday, April 16, 2018, at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place at 4:00 pm, Friday, April 20, 2018, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris; with cremation to follow. Sonny’s family will be present at the funeral home on Friday, to receive close friends, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 4:00 pm.
Arthur was born June 30, 1942, in Gladwin, he is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur and Marie (Nitschke) Wellisley. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years until receiving his honorable discharge in 1968. Arthur married Phyllis Thompson on February 6, 1971. He worked as a fork truck operator at General Motors, retiring in 1994 after 32 years of service. In his free time, Sonny enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing and traveling across the United States. He also enjoyed watching game shows, TV Land, and playing Euchre on Wednesday night with the Moose Lodge in Flushing.
Left to cherish his memory, wife of 48 years Phyllis; five children: Sherri Porritt, Rosemary and husband, Richard Lee, Christopher and wife, Patricia Wellisley, Karen and husband, Matthew Hannig, and Noah Wellisley; 17 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his Euchre buddies from the Moose Lodge in Flushing.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Donna and Ginger, brother Carl, and his granddaughter Jazamine Wellisley.
