Obituary of Larry Howard Phelps
Larry Howard Phelps, age 70, of Caro, died Monday, April 2, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. A funeral service will take place Monday, April 9, 2018, at 12:00 pm, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Chad Driskell will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Larry was born July 7, 1947, in Flint, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Lyman and Arlene (Smith) Phelps. He met Joyce Ogg in elementary school, dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on September 16, 1967, in Flint. Larry graduated from Flint Central High School. He worked for General Motors Buick City for 22 years. He belonged to the UAW Local #599. Larry worked for the Genesee and Columbiaville area fire departments for 12 years. In his free time, Larry enjoyed fishing with his daughters and family, and he loved spending time outdoors boating and water skiing. He will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Joyce Phelps; two daughters: Theresa and husband Scott Neath, Kathy Phelps; three grandchildren: Michelle and husband Jay Owens, Wayne Wiederhold, Dante Neath; and three great-grandchildren: Dontavius Rickard, Riley Wiederhold, and C’andris Owens; mother: Arlene Phelps-Gore.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lyman Phelps, and Uncle, Delbert Phelps.
