Obituary of James Daniel Karn

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James “Jim” Daniel Karn age 96 of Grand Blanc, passed away on March 14, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. A private family service was held at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Grand Blanc on Friday, March 16, 2018, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

Jim was born September 26, 1921, and lived in Jackson, Michigan, where he met and married Harriette Darling on July 6, 1946. After serving as an Air Force pilot in WWII, he graduated from Purdue University with a Mechanical Engineering degree, later he received a master’s degree from the University of Michigan. Jim retired from AC Spark Plug in 1980. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing, and many casino trips with Harriette. They especially enjoyed dinners and trips with friends in their “Club Tuesday” group. Jim could repair most anything, he was our family’s “go to guy” for fixing “stuff”. He was always ready to help his family and friends. Jim will be missed by all and will be remembered for his loving care, which he freely shared.

Jim is survived by wife, Harriette; daughter, Kathryn Arens; sons Dan (Janet) Karn and David (Jamie) Karn; and five grandchildren: Michael Arens, Carie (Rich) Pace, James (Asia) Karn, Kelly (Randy) Kilbreath, and Lindsay (Michael) Misch; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Reverence Hospice for all their compassion and care.
