Obituary of Keith Allen Mathis
Age 42, of Howard City, formerly of Mt. Morris, Michigan, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at his home. A funeral service celebrating Keith’s life will take place 3:00 pm at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Saturday, March 3, 2018. In accordance with Keith’s wishes cremation will follow. Keith’s family will be present at the funeral home on Friday, March 2, 2018, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 3:00 pm.
Keith was born on September 29, 1975, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Ricky and Ann (Barnett) Mathis. He graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School with the class of 1993. He played football in high school and was known as “The Wall #55.” Keith went on to achieve an associate degree in business from Northwood University. While he was at Northwood University he played college football as #71. He worked as a lead technician for Charter. He was a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In Keith’s free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing football, spending time with his family and traveling with his best dog, Neil.
He is survived by his brother: Kevin and his fiancé Susan McConnaha; two nieces: Hailee and Natalie Mathis; two uncles: Mickey Mathis, David and wife Marry Mathis; two aunts: Tammy Mathis, Sandy and husband Charlie Jackson; eight cousins: Mike Mathis, Mike Jackson, Lynn Jackson, Aaron Mathis, Mikell Mathis, Josh Farmer, Thomas Mathis, Corey Mathis; good friend: Andy Crandall; dog: Neil; and many friends.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents.
