Obituary of Fred R Gannon

Age 74, of Grand Blanc, died on Monday, December 11, 2017, at his home. A Celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 8253 S. Saginaw St. in Grand Blanc. Cremation will follow with a private burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Clarkston. Fred’s family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Reverence Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Fred was born September 5, 1943, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Charlotte (Yeager) Gannon. He was educated locally and graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class of 1962. From there, Fred would go on to serve his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served for four years and had many memories of his time stationed in Munich, Germany. Upon his return to civilian life, he would eventually meet a young woman named Linda Delong. They dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on June 19, 1971. Their first home was in Flint, Michigan, and went on to raise their family in Goodrich, Michigan. His career path would lead him to the automotive industry where he worked for General Motors as an analyst for 31 years before his retirement. He loved the outdoors, especially being on the water fishing. He enjoyed golfing, John Wayne movies and was known to be the life of the party. Fred’s true great loves, in addition to his family - especially his grandchildren, were “his” Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines Football. He will be truly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Linda Gannon; Two daughters; Keri (Todd Pahl) of Grand Blanc, Kristy Gannon, Son, Ryan (Larianna Santiago) of Chicago, IL.; Three grandchildren,  Elizabeth, Emma, and Savannah, three brothers, David (Carol), Robert (Kyle) and Mike, Sister, Barbara (Robert Joseph), And many family and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend, Jim Batey.
