Obituary of Helen Joan Roberts
Age 94, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, June 2, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Helen’s family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Tuesday, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Wednesday morning, Helen will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Helen was born December 20, 1922, in Mt. Morris, the daughter of the late Mr. Leopold Dobis, and the late Mrs. Ernestina (Moravcik) Dobis. She graduated from St, Mary Catholic School, class of 1941. Helen married Walter Roberts on October 28, 1944, in Detroit, sadly he preceded her in death on October 19, 2006. She worked as a press operator for Consolidated Packaging for many years until her retirement in 1989. In her free time, Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, hosting family gatherings, and traveling throughout the State of Michigan.
Left to cherish her memory, four children: Patricia Roberts, Michael (Kathleen) Roberts, Martin (Denise) Roberts, Geraldine (Timothy) Butler; brother, Leopold Dobis; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews, great-great- nieces and nephews; and many other family members.
Helen was preceded in death by parents, husband Walter “Red,” son Walter “Jim,” daughter Frances Roberts and six siblings.
