Obituary of Geneva Lone Gavit

Age 94, of Vassar, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Wellspring Lutheran Services. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Vassar with burial to follow in Tuscola Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Geneva was born June 26, 1922, in Rose City, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William and Martha (Partlo) Sammons. She and Wallace were united in marriage in 1948. Sadly, he predeceased her in 1994. Geneva was known for her handmade birthday cards and holiday cards. She was always taking in people who needed help, shelter or just simply a meal to eat. Geneva liked to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Gary (Julie) Gavit and Galen (Demae) Gavit; nine grandchildren: Elizabeth, Brooke, Billy Jack, Eric, Amanda, Galen Jr., Tamlyn, Coty, and Adriana; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother Leonard (Sharri) Sammons. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three brothers Keith, Gerald, and Galen.
