Obituary of Carl Lewis Crittenden

Age 75, of Vassar, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Covenant Health Care-Cooper in Saginaw. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Mt. Morris Church of Christ. Reverend Jim Watson will be officiating with cremation to follow the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Genesee Twp. from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Thursday at church from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Mt. Morris Church of Christ. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Mr. Crittenden was born March 15, 1941 in Flint, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Clyde and Ledema (Rau) Crittenden. He and Carol Henderson were united in marriage on September 9, 1972. Carl retired from Chevrolet in the late 1990’s after over 30 years as a crane operator. Carl was an avid deer and pheasant hunter, small game trapper, and fisherman. He enjoyed raising livestock animals at his home in Vassar for many years and vacationing in Gladwin with his family. Carl had a passion for collecting classic cars and would often go to local car shows all over Michigan. He will be always be remembered by his family as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol (Henderson) Crittenden; daughter, Tina and husband, Wade Volz; two sons: Carl Jr. and wife, Kathy Crittenden, and Michael T. Crittenden; daughter-in-law, Kathy Crittenden; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, sister, Nancy Hartman. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons: Michael J. Crittenden, Greg Crittenden, and Joe Crittenden; sister, Doris Dunning. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home, or at church.
