Obituary of Roy Giddings

Age 61, of Vassar, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at home. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 25, 2016 at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Vassar. Roy’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 24, 2016, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. There will be a local aeries final tribute to the deceased by the Vassar Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeries 2380 at 7:00 pm on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Roy’s memory may be directed to his family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Roy was born July 1, 1954, in Sandusky, Michigan to Mr. & Mrs. Robert and Betty Lou (Snover) Giddings. He and Bonnie Spencer were united in marriage on April 20, 1974, in Caro. He worked in road construction for the majority of his career either operating or hauling heavy equipment. He retired in 2013. Roy was a longtime supporter and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeries 2380 in Vassar, serving as a past worthy president. Roy enjoyed cooking on the grill, camping on Krystal Lake, hunting, and searching deals at auctions. Roy will be remembered for his warm and giving heart and unconditional love for his family and friends. Roy loved being a papa and was very proud of his grandchildren, Jake and Jordyn. He will be missed by many people, especially his family. Left to cherish his memory are his: wife, Bonnie (Spencer) Giddings; two daughters: Chris Best, and Bobbi and husband, Ray Putman; mother, Betty Lou Giddings; two grandchildren: Jake Putman and Jordyn Putman; eight siblings: Bob Giddings, Phyllis Enos and boyfriend, Jesse Garcia, Ed and wife, Dagmar Giddings, Rick and wife, Cathy Giddings, Cindy and husband, John Adams, Nancy McDuffie, Rex and wife, Candi Giddings, and Tom and wife, Linda Giddings; two brothers-in-law, Paul and wife, Diane Spencer, and Virgil and wife, Sim Spencer; three sisters-in-law: Nancy and husband, Daniel Cavanaugh, Virginia and husband, Dave Graichen, and Brenda Spencer; several nieces, nephews; and his two great danes: Dutchess and Bailey. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Robert Giddings.
