Obituary of Alice Beneman

Age 79 of Fairgrove, went to be with her Lord on May 12, 2014. Alice was born September 30, 1934, in Port Huron, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick and Mabel (Comstock) Shilling. Alice and Lester A. Beneman were united in marriage on August 29, 1959, in Port Huron. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and attending all their school and church activities, she also enjoyed reading, socializing with friends, and participating in church functions. Left to cherish her memory are four children, Patrick (Cherry) Beneman, Holly (Daryl) Winter, Heidi Beneman, and Heather (Neal) Rushford; grandchildren, Patrick Beneman Jr., Ian Beneman, Monica Verdi, Ginnie (Josh) Kennedy, Sarah Pierce, Arron Winter, Marc (fiancee, Erin Sovansky) Winter, Rachel (fiance, Nicholas Chaney-Ruiz) Rushford, Johann Beneman and Hannah Beneman; great-grandchildren, Joey, Andrea and Isabella Verdi, Ryder Kennedy, Logan, Tristan and Allison Pierce, and Eva Chaney-Ruiz; two sisters, Joyce Brennan and Judy Doan; and several nieces; nephews and friends. She was predeceased in death by her parents; husband, Lester; sister, Bonnie Dell and brother, Albert Shilling. Funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairgrove. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove on Wednesday, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Thursday, Alice will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service. Memorial donations may be directed to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church Children's Bell Choir or Wellspring Lutheran Service Hospice and Homecare. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
